Fixed prices and tariff corridors for taxis in Germany

Fixed prices let taxi passengers know the fare before they book, the way ride-hailing apps do. In Germany, taxis can now offer them too, within limits set by each city.
What changed
The reform of the passenger transport law (PBefG), in force since August 2021, allows local authorities to set a tariff corridor: a band around the official metered tariff within which taxis may agree a fixed price for pre-booked rides.
Examples
- Munich has used a tariff corridor since September 2023
- Berlin introduced fixed prices for pre-booked taxi rides in 2024
Austria took a similar step in 2021, allowing pre-booked rides at an agreed fixed price without a taximeter.
What your dispatch software needs to do
- Quote a fixed price at booking, inside your city’s corridor
- Apply it consistently across app, phone and web bookings
- Record the agreed price for receipts and accounting
The eCabs Technologies dispatch portal supports fixed prices within the municipal tariff corridor. See also the DACH page.
