Built by a taxi operator

eCabs began in Malta in 2010 as a two-car taxi operation and grew into the largest independent taxi dispatch centre on the island, with its own fleet, thousands of partner drivers and a 24/7 call and booking centre. When Uber and Bolt arrived in Malta, eCabs built its own technology to compete with them, and it has competed with Bolt since 2017 and with Uber since 2022.

Between 2017 and 2019, eCabs Malta moved off its legacy technology and built the platform it runs on today. eCabs Technologies was established in 2019 to provide that same platform to taxi and ride-hailing operators abroad. Core features are proven on our own fleet in Malta first; country-specific features, such as fiscal and taximeter rules, are tested with operators in those markets.

eCabs Technologies is live in 12 countries: Malta, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, the UK, Australia and Argentina. Operators on the platform include Taxi Fiume, Volt, TaxiNow, Blue, Taxi.gr and RooRides.
