Dispatch centre (taxi central)
The organisation and control room that takes taxi bookings and allocates them to drivers, often for many owner-drivers under one brand and phone number.
A dispatch centre, called a Taxizentrale in German-speaking countries, takes bookings for a group of taxis and allocates them to drivers. Many are co-operatives or associations of owner-drivers who share one brand and phone number.
Because members vote on major decisions, a dispatch centre usually changes its system in stages, with the members able to see each step before the next.
