Local SEO for taxi companies: how to win “taxi near me” searches

When someone searches for a taxi, they usually want one now, close by. Local search decides whether they find you or a ride-hailing app. These are the steps that make the difference.
1. Complete your Google Business Profile
Choose the right primary category, add your service area, opening hours (24 hours if you run round the clock), phone number, website and booking link, and real photos of your vehicles and team. Post updates and answer questions in the profile.
2. Keep your name, address and phone number consistent
Use exactly the same business name, address and phone number on your website, your Google profile, Apple Maps, Bing Places and local directories. Inconsistent details make search engines less confident about your business.
3. Earn genuine reviews, and reply to them
Ask passengers for a review after a good trip, for example in a receipt or app message. Reply to every review, especially critical ones, politely and specifically.
4. Make booking easy on a phone
Most taxi searches happen on mobile. Your site should load fast, show your phone number at the top, and let people book online or open your app in one tap.
5. Create pages for the places you serve
Airport transfers, stations, hospitals and neighbouring towns deserve their own pages with useful details: typical fares, pickup points and how to book. Avoid thin copies of the same page with only the town name changed.
6. Add structured data
Mark up your website with schema.org data for your business (for example TaxiService and LocalBusiness), including your service area and contact details, so search engines understand what you offer and where.
7. Own the booking, not just the click
Local search sends people to whoever they find first. If your booking runs through a shared app or a third party, the customer relationship ends there. A passenger app in your own brand and web booking on your own site keep repeat bookings with you.
